Stephen Williams

The emerging artist series is a wonderful opportunity for me to begin exhibiting. I am twenty-two years old, currently finishing the final few credits of my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Mount Allison University. The challenge of mounting an exhibition brings to mind issues of theme and motive. Personally I have always refrained from complicated themes. My narratives are open and always tend to represent images from personal experience. Either past or present, my paintings are tied directly to my life and its own path. I paint in a mixture of oil and acrylic, often using lines to define and reinforce details. In my exhibit the number of pieces work in relation to each other. Together my drawings and paintings represent the commitment and confidence they were drawn in. The work follows everyday and should reflect that it is always nearby, if nothing else I believe in my own expression.
