Ron Shuebrook
Ron Shuebrook’s paintings, drawings and constructions have been exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally, and have been collected by more than fifty public galleries and corporations including the National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. Formerly, President and Vice-President , Academic of the Ontario College of Art and Design, he led the acquisition of degree granting status in 2002 and the completion of the $43 million campus renewal in 2005. These acrylic paintings continue Shuebrook’s sustained concerns with the artificially expressive opportunities for abstraction to embody diverse experiences and subjects through rigorously organized formal elements and physical materials. Specific processes and textures, evocative colours, structured spaces. Contrasting scales and sizes, visual movements and situations , ect. Are interrelated in dynamic relationships that seek to convey various meanings and specific contents.
